So the half ironman came and went.
And guess how many miles I ran last week?
Everyone that guessed "NONE!" wins a unicorn. Check your mailbox. It will arrive next week.
I took Monday and Tuesday off from working out. Recovery is an important step in...uh...recovering.
I drank Margaritas on Wednesday. Margaritas contain LIME and SALT. Vitamin C + Electrolytes. SO IMPORTANT. You know. For the recovery.
I went to Master's swimming on Thursday. But only because I wanted to tell the instructor about how I kicked so much ass in the swim at the tri. :)
And work consumed my life from Friday until Monday. It's Tuesday and I already have my 40 hours in for the week. GAH.
(Alternate title: Saturday's 12.5. Not miles. Hours. At Work.)
But I finally got back on the horse last night and went out for a run. Since work destroyed all plans of a long run while it was busy destroying my soul, I needed to run long-ish. So I ran 10 miles and called it good.
And it felt good, so that's always a bonus.
BUT GET TO THE POINT, WOMAN.
I'm running the Wild West Relay in THREE DAYS. A race at altitude? Yikes.
I've joined team Back Off Man, I'm A Scientist - and before you ask, no, I'm not a scientist - but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
So, yeah. I've got 17.7 miles at altitude on the schedule for the weekend. At least I've got the sleep deprivation part down pat. :)

I love the margarita recovery program ... I'm on board with that
Totally agree with the margarita logic!
Fun sounding relay! Looking forward to hearing about it...glad you found your mojo!
You need the t-shirt that says "I'm no rocket surgeon." Ha! Oh that's right - t-shirst with sayings are lame. But funny to talk about.
dude. that holiday inn express line had me rollin'.
You're going to be fine. You can't lose all your conditioning in just one short week. Right?!
Say a hi to Danielle for me. Never met her, but I read her blog. Just like you actually. :)
HAve fun!!! I ran with that team for MC-200 last year - Danielle kicks ass! As for the race - you will be fine - it's more about the stinky van, crap food and sleep deprivation anyways!
I'm doing the WWR also. I'm the 5th leg on our team. good luck!
This time tomorrow we'll be somewhere in Nebraska!
See you soon!
(And thanks Meg! And hi Xenia!)
Mmmmm, margaritas! When you put it that way, I kind of feel like there should be margarita aid stations at all marathons . . .
Have fun kicking some high altitude ass, girl! I can't wait to read about it!
I know how you feel about not running after an event. I've said to myself all week that it's okay I'm not running much because I did a triathlon on Sunday! How much longer can I use that excuse?
Good luck on your relay! Actually...you are probably doing it right now!
Margaritas are my secret.
And what does staying at a Holiday Inn Express have to do with getting you in that gang...
Have a great weekend!!
