Three Words
Three words to describe Grandma's Marathon 2009?

Whirlwind. Of. Pain.

Fun facts:
Humidity at the start: 85%
Temperature at the start: 64 degrees
Temperature at the finish: 91 degrees
Percentage of runners that dropped out during the race: 10%
My finish time: 5:16:14

For all of you keeping track at home, that's a PW by about 25 minutes. Twenty. Five. Minutes. That's about a minute per mile.

That sound you just heard? Was my soul being destroyed. Ouch.

More later. I'm off to take some Prozac. :)

Your PW still beats my PR by 7 seconds. Be proud. :)

You crack me up!

Don't lose sight of what is important though- every marathon finish is a finish!

yeah, because i know you so well i'll continue to let you wallow. even if it hurts *my* soul a little that your soul is sucked out from this race. i can't believe i ran a marathon 3 days ago. but hey, the upshot? we're not running in this HEATBATH of junglehood *today*. seriously..

Forget the PW. You finished on a day when 10% of the field could not. That makes you one tough woman.

Major props for battling the heat and toughing it out! Congrats!

Dang! With that temp and humidity, I'm just glad you finished and didn't die. Way to go.

Man, when will Grandma's be cool...I keep wondering. Your race was like mine from 2007. I actually yelled at myself out loud at mile 24-ish because I was so miserable.

Chin up girl. You ran another marathon just one month ago, again in less than ideal conditions. I know it's hard to shrug off a PW but your body has accomplished a lot! I'm amazed by you. Truly amazed.

I'm pretty sure the fact that you finished without dying in those conditions is more impressive than any PR could ever be! You are seriously bad ass, chica! Be proud of yourself! :)

I love all your running friends. They give you such good support! Even though we know that you are awesome and that you did a great job of finishing that marathon from hell, it makes my heart feel good to hear your friends tell you that they think you are awesome too.
