In 2007 I did October-a-thon - running every day in October. Last year I attempted July-a-thon.
This year? June-a-thon. My God, I am ridiculously clever with the naming of these events. Someone should give me a job in Marketing.
But there's a twist this year. Instead of running every day...I will be biking.
Here's the thing. I'm doing a half ironman in 54 days. In the past 30 days, I have been on my bike...four times. Gah. It hurts to admit that.
But it's going to hurt even more come race day if I don't buck up and get my ass in the saddle. And so June-a-thon is born.
Rules:
Rides must be at least 20 minutes.
I am exempt from riding if I run a MARATHON that day.
I am exempt from riding if I am out of town. It's not as easy to pack a bike as it is to pack a pair of running shoes.
Trainer rides and spin classes are acceptable indoor substitutes.

Day 1:
Success! I rode with the TCBC and got just over 30 miles in. It was a beautiful ride with a few steep hills, and overall it was enjoyable. Pushed hard without killing myself.
One down...Thank God I picked a month with only 30 days. :)

Great challenge! I'd love to ride with you if ever want a partner.
If you're interested, Birchwood Cafe has a women's ride tonight (Tuesday 6/2) at 6pm that's open to the public. It's always more fun to ride with a group!
Hmmm... you are kind of inspiring me to do a June-a-thon of running... I struggle to get runs in when I am up at my parents cabin, but this might just give me some motivation! I remember reading an article in Runners World a few years back about a guy who had ran every day for a ridiculous number of days. It was like years or something like that.
Looking at you rocking another 'thon month! Very impressive, lady!
I speak from experience. This is a good idea. Before my first Tri, I rode my bike four times. Before that I hadn't been on a a bike in 14 years. The bike leg of my tri had results that mirrored my (lack of) training. You have the right idea :)
PS- my first tri of the season is 5 weeks away and I have been on the bike a few times a week...so at least I learned my lesson :)
I love it! I tried a running thon before and didn't do so well. I really love to ride my bike right now though...maybe I'll give it a try. I'm 8 days behind, so I can just shoot for 30 days.
