Fargo Half Marathon 2009 - A Photo Essay
Photo essay. Heh. That's code for "Post with no segues". Brace yourself.

The Roseville team met at Dunn Brothers on Friday morning, grabbed coffee, and headed out.

Mary, Kim, Part of Duana's head, JD, Meagan, Kristen, Cindy, Rudi, Ally

We stopped at the Nike and Adidas outlets. JD and I bought matching hats. We're practially twins. Except for the 12-inch height difference.

A few hours later, we stopped for lunch. They had a temporary tattoo dispenser at the restaurant. Jen put in a quarter...got a tattoo. Val put in a quarter...got a tattoo. Duana put in a quarter...got a tattoo.

I put in a quarter...and got Billy Bob buck teeth. WTF?? Where is my tattoo?

I think the camera adds 10 pounds...and the teeth add 20. Note the tears - laughing so hard I was crying

We went to the expo. Lisa was going to register for the half marathon on site...but it was full. So she decided to throw caution to the wind...and REGISTERED FOR THE FULL MARATHON. Her first ever. Girl is crazy.

A bunch of us got our bibs signed by Dick Beardsley.

Dick and I are friends on Facebook. I think that means we're practically BFFs.

Val, Ally, JD, Dick, Rudi, Lisa

We carb loaded and celebrated Cindy's 40th birthday. What a blast!

And then we went to bed with visions of race medals dancing in our heads.

Race morning. I checked the iPhone. It was 32 degree. Thirty. Two. Degrees. When we left Minneapolis, it was EIGHTY. I had packed shorts and my shortest capris. A short sleeve shirt and my thinnest long sleeve shirt. I obviously thought it was going to be warm. Note to self: Check forecast, dumbass.

So I cobbled together a makeshift outfit. I wore my Wigwam Rocket Pro socks - which I had packed for post race because of they provide support and enhanced circulation - because they were knee high. I borrowed a jacket that Mary had scored on the cheap at the Adidas outlet. Coach Ruth gave me a "Spider Band" head band and I wore it as an ear warmer.

I like to call this outfit Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.

My God, I am a trainwreck. I went out in public looking like this??

We headed over to the FargoDome for the race start...hopped a fence to get into the starting corral...decided on a pace (goal: start at a 10-minute pace and if we felt okay, we'd pick it up)...and I started running, with Kim by my side.

HAHAHA, I am dying over here! You are totally bringing sexy back, my dear! The sad thing is that it doesn't even seem at all out of the ordinary to me . . . I am officially becoming desensitized to strange running attire!

Yep, you brought the hotness :-). Sorry for the unexpected dip in temp -- I would have so done the same thing!

Haaaaaaaaa!
The outfit actually isn't that bad. Or maybe my sense of style is becoming more "function over fashion." I think I would totally rock that look in that situation.
