My long runs are starting to feel worthy of the title "Long Run" - it seems that for me, the tipping point is 16-17 miles. Anything over this distance and it seems long enough to be called "Long."
A 14-miler? Pffft. Practically a half marathon.
A 15-miler? It's practically 14.
But a 16-miler? We're getting pretty close to 18...which is close to 20...which is practically 26.2.
So now that my long runs are getting longer, I'm making a conscious effort to carb load the night before.
Friday's carb loading? Mac and Cheese.
Butter...whole milk...cheese...more cheese... Yeah, this is pretty healthy. But OMG, DELICIOUS. So. Utterly. Delicious.
Operation Congestive Heart Failure: In progress
Because I didn't just eat it for Friday dinner. No, no, no. It also made an appearance for Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch. And Sunday Dinner. Please don't judge me.
Also consumed this weekend: Gummy bears. Potato chips. Garlic fries. Chocolate. Wine.
Not consumed this weekend: Vegetables. Food with nutritional value. Water.
So it was with trepidation that I stepped on the scale this morning.
I lost two pounds.
DUDE.
I. Love. Marathon. Season.
Or maybe it's because I'm dehydrated. Don't tell my skinny jeans.

You suck! I gain 5 pounds over marathon season.
I think that a veggie free weekend is a must here and there. :) Besides, chocolate is from the cocoa bean and beans are vegetables. :)
You are so funny:
I won't tell your skinny jeans if you don't tell mine. Cause I ate and entire pizza between dinner last night, lunch today and a "snack" when I got home from class tonight. It's all trader joes and healthy and STILL full of gross fat. And I ate it all...within 36 hours.
I am running tomorrow, does that count??
Yummy...I love a good mac & cheese!
I am so jealous! I feel like I always end up gaining weight while in marathon training . . . Probably because I do things like eat 3 boxes of lucky charms for breakfast. Hmph. Maybe I should try the mac-n-cheese diet instead! ;)
Okay, so now I'm UBER-pissed at you....ice bath, hottie, mac'n'cheese, weight loss?
I.
Hate.
You.
Just stopped in to check out another runners blog...funny..no! Hilarious! And why is it not ok to leave out a few basics...you run your butt off right? There's gotta be some joy in the torture!
I made this mac and cheese tonight. It was delicious!!! Time to carb up. My kids even liked it.
