Swim, Swam, Swum
I had no excuse other than being tired...but I just didn't want to go to the gym this morning. Sometimes it's hard for me to do "real" workouts in the morning. I knew if I went to the gym this morning, I would just be wasting time, faking a workout.

I decided that sleep was more important than a fake workout.

But the triathlon is getting closer and "real" workouts are getting closer...and I avoided the pool throughout the entire month of January...

So it is time to get reacquainted with the pool. It's time to learn how to swim one mile.

I decided to try 0-to-1650 awhile ago. I started at week one, and it was easy. Too easy.

So I decided to give "Week 3" a chance when I hit the pool on Wednesday morning. To my surprise, the workout was great. I find that if I'm in the pool, swimming with purpose, I actually enjoy myself.

Although I suck at counting. My mind starts to wander. I lose track of what lap I'm on.

Anyway.

Back to today. So I skipped my morning workout. But fear is a great motivator, and drowning while attempting my first half-ironman is not the way I want to go.

So, over lunch I skipped off to the pool, to pay penance for my delicious morning of sleeping in (totally worth it, by the way).

I was set to do 600 yards for my first set. So I hopped in the pool and did 600 yards. But I still felt good and I didn't want to stop.

So I didn't. I kept swimming. 700. 900. 1100. I finally threw in the proverbial towel after 1250. That's the farthest distance I've ever covered in the pool without stopping.

I came back to the office with huge goggle marks on my face. And a smile. Yay!

Great job! And thanks for posting again as it has allayed my fears that you had drowned. In either snow or water. It was a toss up really. ;)

I haven't swum since Chisago. For really. And can you please quote the proverb that indicates 1250 is a good number? :-)
