Holiday Homecoming Happenings
I'm home for Christmas. Back in Iowa.

I got home just as my brother, sister-in-law and most-adorable-child nephew were leaving. Noah is one, and I have I mentioned that he is adorable??

So I walked in the front door with the cat in her carrier. I immediately had Noah's attention.

Have I noted that Noah knows his animal sounds? Smart kid.

All the sudden I hear this low guttural noise coming from the child. It takes me a second, but then realize what he's saying.

"RAAAWWWWWRRRRRRRRR....RAWWWRRRRR" ...Noah says. "RRRRRRRAAAWWRR..."

Pam corrects him, "No, Noah, it's not a lion. It's a cat."

The Child Starts To Screech. "MMEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW. MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW" Please note the emphasis on the "EEEEEEEEE!" and imagine it at the highest octave within the range of human hearing.

I continue into the house as Nick, Pam and Noah leave. "MMEEEEEEEEEEEEOW"

Bye Nick! "MEEEEEEEEEEEEOW"

Bye Pam! "MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW"

Bye Noah! "MEEEEEEEEOW"

And as they walk out the door, Noah starts to cry. He doesn't want to leave the cat. He hasn't yet learned that Roxie? Is a hellion. He doesn't know that she would like nothing more than to snack on his adorable screeching windpipe.

He'll learn. He's a smart kid.

Every year, my mom writes a Christmas letter, updating the world on what the family is up to.

This years blurb about me:

"Allison is still in Minneapolis ... blah blah blah... She ran two marathons this summer..."

Wait, wait, wait. WHAT?

Excuse me?

PARDON???

I ran HOW MANY marathons this summer? Two?

1) Grandma's
2) Whistlestop
3) Nike

That's three. THREE.

Gah. Now the family friends are going to think I'm a slacker...just doing two marathons... :)

I was sitting on the couch, on my laptop. My brother was sitting five feet away from me, at the family computer, when I get an instant message from "Mom"

"You suck" How original, Jordan.

"F' off" I replied with love.

"i wish i had never bore you from my womb" Okay. That? Is funny. Too bad Mom doesn't read her message history. :)
