Race Report: Whistlestop Marathon- Part III
So I finished the race.

And then? I cried.

The week before the marathon I was so stressed and exhausted and happy and sad and I don't even know.

And so I cried.

And then I ate a donut hole and a banana and I was better. Maybe I just had low blood sugar. :)

A few minutes later, Jen hunted me down and gave me a big hug.

Jen, Allison, and Allison's ugly cry face

A few minutes later, we ran into Ruth, who had just crossed the finish line. Turns out, she sped up so she could bank some time to use the Biffy. She said that when she got back on the trail, I was in her sights, but she couldn't catch me. She ended up crossing the finish four minutes after I did.

We hugged. And cried. Why is marathoning so freaking emotional??

Thank God my ugly cry face is hidden in this picture

The group posed for a quick picture...

Yeah, we kinda rock

I emptied the rocks out of my shoe...

Um, ouch.

And headed back to the hotel, which was right off of Lake Superior. Karen and I changed into our swimsuits, bundled up in our coat and hats, grabbed a coffee...and headed out into the lake to ice our legs. Lake Superior average temperature: Eleven Billion Degrees Below Zero.

Thank God for Photoshop. Blindingly white legs have been cropped out. You're welcome.

We got cleaned up, headed out to dinner to celebrate Duana's birthday and came back to the hotel to relax. I was beat. I'd post a picture from dinner, but dudes, it wasn't pretty. You could pack enough for a weeklong vacation in the bags under my eyes.

We headed back home on Sunday morning. The drive was gorgeous. I love fall.

And that's it. My second marathon, in the bank.

Bring on number three!!

I love your race reports. And don't worry, my cry face is SO MUCH worse.

Congrats again on a fantastic marathon!

One more question re: your iron bladder. How often & how much did you drink along the course? I really don't want to have to make a potty stop. I'm going to be spending the next six weeks sorting this out. How sad. :)
