T.G.I.Taper
It's taper time, baby!!

And I couldn't be more ready for it.

I ran 13 miles with J on Saturday. He's running the TC marathon next weekend and for reasons I won't get into, wasn't able to run for the past four weeks.

Let me say that again. J took a four week break from running. His first run back was Saturday, and he's going to do a marathon in a week.

THIS? This is why men suck. If I took four weeks off, he would have to drag me by my hair to get me to travel 13 miles by foot. But J? Ran 13 miles, at my pace. MEN. Hmph.

Anyway. Enough about J. Isn't this blog supposed to be all about ME? ;)

So we ran 13 miles. I was hoping for a pace somewhere between 9:45 and 10:15. We hit it right on with a 10:01 pace. Sweet. My heart rate was a little higher than I would have liked...but I wasn't willing to slow down. Because I'm stubborn.

I can't believe the marathons are almost here. Two weeks to Whistlestop. YIKES. I need to start mentally preparing...and stop eating pizza and ice cream and Oreos. The dreaded "Train Gain" is beginning to rear its ugly head...

Distance: 13 miles
Pace: 10:01
Average HR: 172

Three words to describe this run: I Heart Taper

Okay, seriously now. I don't get this whole "infinitely in shape" thing . . . my dude is the same way. He'll go MONTHS and MONTHS without running, and then crank out like an 8-miler his first run back. Meanwhile, my out of shape ass is puking in the grass at mile 2.5!! HOLY PENIS ENVY.

So do I get to finally meet my long-lost twin at the Nike Expo or what?

Hooray!

I don't know if the reply to comments works but email me at maritza27ATgmailDOTcom (why do people do this? To avoid spam? I'm just trying to be cool) so we can be all nervous and giddy for the next 3 weeks about the race...I can't believe you are doing 2! Hardcore!
