I ran a 54:18!!

I ran the Victory 10k this morning and Rocked It. Everything felt perfect and as soon as I started running, I knew I had it in the bag. I just felt terrific....well, terrific considering that I felt like my lungs were about to collapse at any given moment. Legs felt fresh. Mind was clear. Knee felt good.

But I really had to push myself. Every Single Mile I considered walking. Every Single Mile I wanted to drop out of the race. Every Single Mile was the hardest I've had to work to keep running. That's how I knew I was pushing myself hard enough. :)

I seriously did not think I had an 8:43 pace in me. I thought I'd scrape by, barely making a 9:00 pace. I guess all that speed work at the track is paying off...

9/1/08
Mile 1: 8:44
Mile 2: 8:58
Mile 3: 9:08 (I had to stop to tie my shoe - rookie mistake)
Mile 4: 8:29
Mile 5: 8:33
Mile 6: 8:25
Mile 6.24: 1:53 (7:49 pace)

Average pace: 8:43
Total time: 54:18
Average HR: 180!! (Threshold is 185)

Three words to describe this run: Holy. Crap. Fast.
