I am a medal whore.
One of my favorite parts about racing is getting a big shiny medal when I finish.
So it should come as no surprise that I just signed up for the Whistlestop marathon.
Oh wait. Except that it is ONE WEEK before the Nike Women's Marathon.
I am doing back to back marathons.
Allison = Crazy
Hear me out.
I am feeling speedy lately, and I want to run the fastest marathon possible. Nike is in San Francisco. San Francisco is hilly. I know that if I run Nike, I will probably PR...but not by the 37 minutes that I am shooting for. The hills will bend me over the race course and show me who is boss. They will crush my soul into tiny bits and blow them into the ocean.
I want to run fast. I want to have a great race.
So I will be racing Whistlestop, going balls out and PRing the crap out of my marathon time...and doing Nike as a fun run. I will be able to run Nike at a leisurely pace...soaking it all in. I can run with my camera and cell phone. I can live-blog the race. I won't have to worry about time.

Speaking of being a medal whore...I just got a chance to do the IronGirl duathlon in 10 days. It's a 2 mile run, 22 mile bike and 2 mile run. I don't think I have the willpower to say no. Those damn medals are addicting. Plus...I'll get to race with JD. Who can say no to that??

and yes those hills are KILLER.
Back-to-back? Yep, that's nuts.
If you ARE such a medal whore, I have a proposition for you. You and Karen should come do the Cannon Lake Duathlon in Faribault with Matt and I this Saturday! According to their website, they only have 1 female/female team signed up, and there are prizes for the top 3! COME ON! YOU KNOW IT'D BE FUN!!!
Seriously. Come on. Don't wuss out.
;)
AND the race doesn't start until 8:30. So even though it's an hour drive, you still don't have to get up SUPER early!
You have nothing to say to get out of this...
I'm with Steve. You can so podium!
could i love you any more????
okay the iron girl part is what i was EXPECTING to read about.
the Whistlestop part? holy smokes! you will almost be like Michael Phelps with all that bling!!
if you let this go to your head, remember, I'll smack ya :-*
Dude, quit making me look lazy!!!
WOWAWEEWAH! You are my hero!
See?? Jumper's with me!!
Dayum! You are crazy. But in a good way. :) You're making me feel deficient though. You're doing two back to back marathons and I can't even commit to one. I'm such a wuss.
I'm with Steve too. Do it! :)
By running back-to-back marathons you'll qualify for the bronze level of the Marathon Maniacs! Come join us!
On some level, we are all medal whores. Who has ever turned one down after finishing?
