Funky Town
I've been in a funk.

I just haven't feel like myself the past two weeks.

My body is starting to rebel...I’m hitting peak mileage this week and instead of being all light and springy and yay I have been all sluggish and draggy and bleh.

I ran 16 miles at a 9:59 pace last Friday and it was a good run. I've been doing my speed workouts and am taking rest days. Lifting, yoga, cross training. I Feel Like I Am Doing Everything Right. So why do I feel...not right?

I've decided to back off a bit this week. I've stopped lifting in the mornings, opting instead to get an extra hour of sleep. I took today off from work - I slept in (clocking an astounding 12 hours of sleep), went for a leisurely bike ride, and then took a nap. Karen called at 9pm and we went out for an easy 9-miler (9:56 pace). I'm taking tomorrow off for another day of sleep and rest.

I need all the rest I can get...I'm doing my final long run on Saturday.

22 miles.

I just have to tell myself two things:

1) This Is Your Last Long Run....then it's time to bring on the taper!!
2) After you run...you get to hang out with J. Squee!! Also, hearts, rainbows, sunshine, puppies, glitter and lollipops.

Bring it on, baby. I'm going to be so rested that 22-miler isn't even going to know what hit it.

Damn. Yeah, just back off a little, get in that long run, and go from there. Good luck!!

(If you need a personal cheerleader to show up at mile 15 of said run in short-shorts with gel, food, or beer, I know a guy...)
