The Break Up
In an earlier post, I alluded that things were over with That Dude.

He called, we chatted for awhile, and when I brought up hanging out again some time, he laid it on me. He just wasn't feelin' it.

Which is fine, honestly. I'm not one of those girls that is willing to change who she is and how she acts and what she thinks so she can become the person that her potential mate wants her to be.

If some guy doesn't want to date me, I am completely fine with that. Why would I want to waste my time dating someone that doesn't want to be with me, when there is someone out there that does? The trick is that I just have to find him. There's always a catch. :)

But I won't lie. It still stings and kind of makes me feel like crap.

ANYWAY.

So he called it off and said we should still be friends. I told him that I appreciated his honesty and that I still thought he was hilarious and worth keeping as a friend. And I meant it. All is good. We said goodbye and hung up.

And a few minutes later I get a text from him.

I called it off with Allison. She seemed cool with it. But it took me forever to get the balls to bring it up. She still wants to hang out, be friends. So that's good.

Dude. DUDE. This text message was OBVIOUSLY not meant for me.

A few seconds later...

Shit. I'm an idiot. I was talking to my friend Karen.

Ha! Hahahahaha! I. Love. It. I've always feared that I would inadvertently send an email or text to someone to the wrong person. And I must say, I was kind of satisfying to be on the receiving end of this blunder.

At least now we're both feeling like ass-hats.

At least it was a NICE text message. What if it had said something like this?

"I called it off with Allison. She seemed cool with it, which sucks because I really wanted to see the bitch squirm. She still wants to hang out, be friends. Yeah, right!"

That would sting.

Anyway, I agree with you. No need to change your ways or waste your time with someone who's not interested. Life's too short to be miserable.

Good luck with the next one!

Ass-hats. I like that. A lot.

Sounds like it worked out OK, even if it stung a little at times. Good luck with the next one!!!

Oh that is killer. Sorry that it didn't work out with him.

Still the balance was attained. At least he had the balls to bring it up.

Good for you for never compromising who you are...not everyone will be a perfect fit, so it's not worth your time if the shoe didn't fit with this guy.

I hope you find your Christian Louboutins soon!!

(How's that for a cheesy shopaholic's analogy?)

That is hysterical! But I am glad it was a nice text. Sorry it didn't work out - but you've got a really positive attitude about it all. And you're right - don't change who you are. The rest of us love it!
