Okay, hate is a strong word.
This week's LSD sucked with such ferocity that it left my head spinning in a tornado of suck. It sucked the life force out of me. I nearly lost the will to live. Only kidding. Well, half kidding. I only wanted to die because that would mean that the horrible, horrible run would end.
But I cannot put my finger on what made the run suck. I was rested. I was hydrated. I was running with my favorite peeps. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. My IT band was feeling good. I didn't have knee pain. I was wearing my Lucky LSD socks.
But I couldn't get in the groove. It usually takes me a mile or two to get warmed up and really in the groove. At mile 6 I wasn't in the groove. At mile 8 I still wasn't in the groove. For about 5 minutes at mile 10 I thought I was in the groove...but it somehow slipped through my fingers. Slippery little sucker. By the time mile 13 rolled around, I threw in the towel.
I was planning on running 20.
There's no 'I' in team...but there is an 'I' in QUIT.
I'm a quitter.
I didn't have the strength, mentally, to run seven more miles. So I didn't. And I didn't feel bad about it. I rocked last week's LSD, so I'm hoping that I'll be back in the game for next week's. I'm gonna get back on the horse and shoot for 20. Again.
I'm going to take this week to really prepare myself. Eat healthy. Go to bed early. Stop using heroin (Kidding! There's no way I'm quitting. (Kidding! Hugs, not drugs)).

i HATE those runs!!! when you just never find your happy place. GRRR... well at least you still ran THIRTEEN miles! you will get 20 next week!
I couldn't have quite at 13 miles.... I was still at least 5 miles from home at that point, and if I'd taken the direct route home, well, it would have been more painful than the long way. But you're right, we both had CRAPPY runs this weekend!
Ick. I feel ya pain sista. Here's to hoping next week is better. I think it will be. You never know how a run will go - it's like a crap shoot.
Tell us how you REALLY feel about your run!
And thank you for stopping by my blog!
