Bolder!
As I was busy stewing in my negativity...I almost lost sight of the fact that I'm going to one of my favorite places this weekend - COLORADO!!

For the BOLDER BOULDER, BABY!!

The IT band has been behaving for the most part (except for 4 hellish miles on Tuesday...oops, forgot to blog that run), so I might as well toss out a few goals.

Super Easy and Most Definitely Attainable Goal: 1:12:52 (11:43 pace)
This is all it will take for me to PR. The last 10k that I ran was also my first - and it was two years ago. If I don't achieve this goal, I will stab myself in the eye socket with a freshly sharpened pencil. So let's hope I don't pull a muscle and end up with a DNF...because I am somewhat attached to my vision.

The Real Goal: 59:59 (9:39 pace)
I really would like to finish in under an hour. My half marathon pace from April was 9:43 so this one feels almost like a sure thing. Knock on wood.

The Stretch Goal: 58:00 (9:20 pace)
I'm not sure I can sustain 9:20s for 6.2 miles. If I don't make this goal, I won't beat myself up. Altitude + Pissed IT Band = The stars may need to be aligned for this one to happen.

The Secret Goal: If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret, would it??

Good luck! My first 10k sucked so I didn't run another one for four years. And even then, I have 10 mile races that I ran at a faster pace than the 10k. Hate the distance!

1st 5k, go for the real goal, then if you're feeling it, go for the gold!

Good luck (with a bit of envy) in Boulder.

At the risk of sounding unsympathetic, it's nice to hear I'm not the only one out there regularly humping a foam roller in an effort to quell my ITBS.

Good luck in Bolder!
