Dam
And also, Daaaaaaaaaamn!

I did the Dam Hill Workout with the Lifetime running club on Saturday.

DAMN.

It was hard. But it was amazing. I have never worked so hard, yet had so much fun working so hard.

We started with a 5.5 mile warm up, and then headed to the Dam Hill for 8 hill repeats.

But this wasn't just any hill workout. This was a Lifetime hill workout. Lifetime? They don't f' around when it comes to hill workouts.

We ran to the bottom of the hill...and did push ups. We ran to the top of the hill...and did push ups and crunches.

We ran to the bottom of the hill...and did squats. We started running to the top of the hill...with out hands over our heads. Have you ever done that? It's HARD. Half way through, we put our hands behind our backs. Also hard.

The other repeats were all variations on this theme. Strength at the top and bottom, cherry pickers, running backwards, sprints, totem poles, skipping, and other variations for the hills. It was difficult, but kind of nice to have something to mix it up.

After the hills, we did a 5.5 mile cool down. It was a gorgeous day - perfect for a long run. I had so much fun running with the Roseville girls - such a fun group. And time really flies when with a group.

After the run, I went to the Twins game with a friend from high school I hadn't seen in years (and the Twins won! Yay!)...and came home for well-deserved nap. After getting all rested up, I met up with his posse and relived my youth. More about that later...

When you first wrote you did a 5.5 mile warmup before the hills, I thought it was a typo. Then you wrote you did 5.5 miles after and posted your splits and I thought "dang, that's insane!" I can't imagine doing all that during a long run!

Holy hell! That's very impressive. I got exhausted just reading about it. Kick ass!
