Top Five
Today's six miler was, hands down, in my top five runs of all time.

My top five WORST runs of all time, that is.

I knew it was going to be a VW Jetta run from the start. My left hamstring/knee have been acting up this week. I forgot to BodyGlide. My hamstring hurt. It was windy. My hamstring was tight. I forgot to wear a headband to keep my hair from blowing in the wind. My hamstring has been sucking. I forgot to take 30 ibuprofen so I couldn't feel my hamstring.

But whatever. This half marathon isn't going to train for itself, so I sucked it up and headed out.

And Oh The Pain! I had Knee Bootcamp last night and talked to the PT about the hamstring. She said to stretch it. Uh, really? That's all the advice you have? Worthless. I've been stretching and RICE-ing all week long and haven't seen any improvement. Thanks for nothing. But during our workout, after the hamstring warmed up, it felt a little better.

So I figured it would be the same for the run. I thought that by Mile 2 I would be in the groove.

I was so, so wrong.

Mile 2 came and went. Pain. Mile 4 slowly passed. More pain. I made it though Mile 5. And then FINALLY, God had mercy on this poor running soul. The kinks finally worked out as I began my sixth and final mile. It was the only mile with a respectable split.

And as soon as Garmina beeped to let me know that I had made it through the 6-mile run without dying, I praised the Lord and stopped to stretch. The pain was back with a vengeance and I couldn't walk it off. So I limped back to my apartment and iced the shit out of that damn hamstring. Sigh.

Definitely not looking forward to Sunday's 8-miler. I'm toying with the idea of making it a 10 and doing the TC10 race course...we'll see how tomorrow's rest day goes.

Three words to describe this run: Suck. Pain. Determined.

Splits:
Mile 1: 11:13
Mile 2: 11:31
Mile 3: 11:41
Mile 4: 11:40
Mile 5: 11:06
Mile 6: 10:26
