Snap Snap

Being the good Catholic that I am (ha!) I decided to give something up for Lent. Something that I love. I wanted to do something that would be difficult to accomplish. And something that would make me a better person.

So I decided to give up swearing.

I KNOW.

This isn't easy. I swear when I'm happy. I swear when I'm sad. I swear without thinking about it.

So my initial thought was that every time I slipped up, I'd put a quarter in a jar, and at the end of Lent, I'd donate the money to a worthy charity. And then I realized...I don't have that kind of money. :)

My alternate plan? I wear a rubber band on my wrist. Every time I swear? I snap it. It's kind of like one of those dog training collars that zaps every time the invisible fence is crossed.

I feel like I'm making progress. Last week was killer. My wrist hurt like a bitch (snap snap) by the end of each day. But like the dog being shocked by the collar...I'm learning. Only 41 days until Easter. It will be a relief when I can get up on Easter morning...
