As you may have heard, I set a personal record when I ran the 5k last weekend. The day started out kind of cold and crappy. On the way to the race, a few raindrops hit the windshield. I packed a tank and capris for the run and was getting nervous that I would freeze my ass off. I was preparing myself for the worst.
I got my bib, stretched, and hit the Biffs. I was ready to rock, rain or shine.
The starting whistle blew. I was close to the front of the pack, so I didn't have to wade through all of the walkers. I just ran at the pace that felt comfortable and didn't really check the ForeRunner for my pace.
At about half a mile out, I checked my pace. 8:50! Rockin'!! I kept right around that pace for the entire race. It was hard, but it felt great!!

I went for a run on Tuesday - my first run after the 5k. I was planning on running 5 miles. The day was sunny and beautiful. I was caught up on sleep. I had plenty of time for the run. I was preparing myself for the best.
I headed out to the lake. I ran the first mile at a reasonable pace - 9:20 - but I wasn't in the groove. It all went downhill from there.
At the 1.5 mile mark, I stopped and walked. I was feeling completely nauseous. I think the last time I walked during a run was about three months ago, so this was a rarity for me. I sucked it up and ran for another half mile, before slowing down to walk again. I ran a mile and stopped for a drink, and managed to get the last 1.5 miles in. It was 4 miles of pure hell. I think I can safely say it was my worst run to date.

I ran 5 miles tonight. There was no walking, and there was no record setting pace. It just a regular run. And that's good enough for me.
